The Courage to Lead
I've been giving a lot of thought lately to this topic. How do we become leaders? How do we really know if we are leaders? Aren't you, by definition, only a leader if someone is following you?

Okay, so here it is, week 2 of my committment to blog at least once a week. I had a discussion today with my Superintendent about my dilemma. I have things to say but am worried about the readers I may or may not offend. Funny really, seeing how I don't really think I have any. I am still inspired by Kim Moritz, superintendent and blogger. (See G-Town Talks 2.0) Kim's was the first blog by a local admin that I really followed. She wrote (writes) with passion, understanding, and courage. She's also a leader I admire. At EduCon she spoke about her blogging. She didn't realize the number of people who read and are influenced by her blog. I am one of them. In it's early days she held a position similar to mine. I enjoyed reading it then. Of course her position has changed but now that she has begun to blog again, for her, I am once again inspired by her. I will continue to blog, hopefully grow, and who knows, maybe even get a following!
I wasn't sure at first how to articulate my experince this past weekend at EduCon 2.3. I love to talk. I love to talk about what I am passionate about. I love talk with people who share the same interest and passions I have. So maybe that is why I haven't taken the leap from Twitter lurker to poster, from talker to blogger. I need to look at these mediums as another way to talk. I am going to continue to give this a try. I am going to to accept the challenge from my EduCon PLN to start connecting and sharing. I'll start with baby steps, a committment to blog at least once a week and contribute not RT to the Twitterverse. More to come.
